THE UTAH TEAPOT

The project examines whether the use of digital media as a tool for representation and 3D printing changes our perception of the artificial-physical world or is it perceived as natural? How does personal expressions using digital media can come forth in an icon such as the Utah Teapot? Can it change the balance between natural and artificial, computerized to the real?

The teapot is a three-dimensional model designed by Martin Newell at the University of Utah and serves for number decades as a basic model for modeling and designing in many 3D design software.

As a designer In the digital age, the tea pot is identified to me as no less than a sphere, a cylinder or a pyramid. My personal interest was to examine this icon in several tools and mediums such as augmented reality, projection on a physical object and creating alternatives to this icon in 3D printing.
